Winter 2018 News: We have expanded our registration from AKC alone to UKC in addition and future litters will likely be registered UKC alone.
Puppies are sold with first shots, worming and health certificate.
Deposits are $200, non-refundable. This is subtracted from the total purchase price leaving the balance to be paid at the time you pick up your puppy. Please note that while we advertise online we do not *sell online. No checks or electronic payments are accepted, nor do we ship - prospective owners are expected to first meet the litter and personally select a pup, then to pick him or her up when they are ready to go home.
All our adults are purebreds registered with the AKC and/or UKC. Not all puppies will be sold with papers, it will be a litter-by-litter determination. We also don't fuss with limited registration - if someone cares enough to ask and pay for papers on puppies we will be registering they will have full registration automatically. (It seems a cheat to me to do otherwise.) If we list a litter as *registerable it means we have submitted paperwork for the pups and you may ask for papers - you are not OBLIGED to buy papers on the pup. If you buy a registerable pup as UNregistered, you may change your mind at any time until the pup reaches 11 mos. old and request papers in writing and by submitting the difference in price (the registry prefers to see papers submitted by the dog's 1st birthday). If the owner of a registered pup we bred brings proof of a conformation or performance championship for that dog, they will get $100 for promoting the breed.
Registered: $1,200
Unregistered: $800
Our health and refund policy:
We do care about the health of our dogs and strive to breed the best quality pups we can. Our refund policy is limited to any genetic or congenital condition that is crippling or worse, within six months of when the pup goes home. It must be backed by written vet diagnosis and, if applicable, autopsy report. Since this is essentially a 'buy back', the return of the puppy is expected. In the case the refund policy is activated the owner has the choice of a refund (minus non-refundable deposit) -or- a replacement puppy of the same type (registered or unregistered). A common non-refund issue for puppies, maybe 20%, is that they can have umbilical hernias or tiny, stage 1 heart murmurs due to swift growth. Hernias are easy to treat - 2-5 stitches done at the time of the neuter/spay operation - and heart murmurs are typically grown out of by the time they are a year old (re: "innocent" murmurs only).
We will of course accept the return of any puppy we have bred but unless the return is made under the refund policy no refunds will apply.
Registries:
AKC is the American Kennel Club (est. 1884) and they concentrate mostly on conformation showing, though they also have obedience and some other performance showings. They are considered the primary dog registry for the US.
UKC is the United Kennel Club (est. 1898) and while they also show for conformation they put a little more emphasis on their performance showings, in pursuit of a 'whole dog' doctrine. They are the second most premiere or "valid" dog registry in the US.
